The Purposeful Company - follow up to 2019 research study

Last year I undertook a major research study into simplified alternatives to the conventional LTIP in UK listed companies for The Purposeful Company. The report was referenced in the Investment Association’s letter to Remuneration Committee Chairs, and we have since had a number of new implementations of deferred shares across a range of companies including Burberry, BT, Lloyds Banking Group, Flutter and Whitbread.

The Purposeful Company have asked me to conduct a short follow up over the summer, and we are encouraged to have already had terrific engagement from several large investors, all the major remuneration consultancies, and FTSE companies.  It is clear the COVID-19 crisis has heightened interest in the deferred shares model amongst both companies and investors.
