Jean-Pierre Noël BSc(Econ), MA, Chartered CCIPD

With almost 30 years’ global HR and coaching experience, including 15 years’ operating at Board level inside three FTSE 50 multinationals, I have hands-on experience of designing and implementing executive remuneration practices that work and are practical. External recognition for this includes the prestigious PwC sponsored “Building Public Trust Award” for executive remuneration reporting in the FTSE 100.

My most recent permanent in-house role was with InterContinental Hotels Group plc (IHG) where I was Senior Vice President with overall group accountability for reward, performance management, and HR capability. The total gross annual revenue in IHG’s system is USD 19.4bn, and the group operates over 6,100 hotels in nearly 100 countries.

Prior to IHG, I was in the same top reward seat with Reckitt Benckiser Group plc (Reckitt) , and in addition to reward was accountable for HR Information Systems. RB has annual revenues of GBP 13.2bn, and their brands – such as, Air Wick, Dettol, Finish, Nurofen, Lemsip and Durex – are found on store shelves in almost 200 countries.

On an interim basis, I have also been the Group Reward Director at Compass Group plc (Compass). Compass is a global leader in food services with revenues of £25.8bn, operations in 40 countries, and over 500,000 employees.

Key focus areas at IHG, Reckitt and Compass included:
·  Leadership of the global reward philosophy, strategy, policies and narrative
·  Advice to the CEO, CHRO, Chairman, and Board’s Remuneration Committee
·  Design and implementation of new executive remuneration strategies
·  Remuneration terms associated with Board appointments and separations

The broader business context included:
· Multi-million pound mergers and acquisitions
· Enterprise-wide cultural and business transformation
· Delivering results through owned/managed/franchised businesses
· Dealing with a multi-cultural Board and geographically diverse business
